International students can organise residency documents at new branch at CU
The Department for Asylum and Immigration Policy of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic today opened a new branch of the Foreigners’ Residence Unit on the premises of the Charles University Komenského Student Residence. This gives international students another option for arranging their residency documents for the Czech Republic.
The centre will serve students coming to study at Charles University and other universities in Prague, and will serve non-European Union nationals. “I’m glad that we have been able to open this branch, where students can deal with everything concerning residence, from the submission of applications to receipt of a biometric pass. In the future we’re planning to cooperate more closely with the study departments of other universities,” said First Deputy Minister for Domestic Security Jiří Nováček from the Czech Ministry of the Interior.
The centre, which has a daily capacity of 220 persons, can be visited by students following prior booking of an appointment via the centre’s phone number at 974 820 680. The Czech Ministry of the Interior opened a similar centre on the premises of Palacký University in Olomouc in September last year.
“The new centre has been set up on the premises of the Komenského Student residence. Thanks to the cooperation of the Ministry of the Interior, Charles University in Prague and other Prague universities can now offer international students the option of organising the necessary formalities for residence in the Czech Republic directly at one of the student residences in the centre of the capital city. We expect this centre to help make the process for receiving international students to Prague universities faster, better and simpler,” said Charles University rector Prof. MUDr. Tomáš Zima, DrSc. on the opening of the centre.
This will be the seventh such centre in the City of Prague and is intended solely for international students. The new branch of the Foreigners’ Residence Unit is based on the premises of theKomenského Student Residence at Hládkov 682/9, Prague 6.
