Coronavirus measures

update from 1st March 2021



1. Important notices

  • The government has declared the state of emergency. Find out more here. The rules are being tightened (with some exceptions), especially for:

    • wearing respirators and surgical drapes (the obligation to wear a surgical drape applies, a respirator is mandatory in selected places - especially public transport and shops),

    • free movement on the territory (from March 1st, 2021 ban on movement between districts - more for example here),

    • schools, kindergartens and children's groups will be closed.

       


  • As of March 1st, 2021, updated Ministry of Health protective measure regarding the conditions of entry to the Czech Republic will be effective. Information on the website will be updated accordingly. 



  • As of February 26th, 2021 it is not possible to travel to the countries with an extreme risk of COVID-19 transmission. This travel ban applies to the Czech citizens and foreigners living in the territory of the Czech Republic. Countries with an extreme risk of COVID-19 transmission are listed in the Ministry of Health Protective Measure (pdf, 41 kB).

***Your quarantine obligations depend on which country you travel from. The obligations given below apply to you if you stayed in this particular country for longer than 12 hours in the past 14 days. Find your country in the overview below and follow the steps. Refer to the pdf-table for a summary.***

1. BEFORE YOU TRAVEL, FILL OUT A FORM FOR HYGIENIC STATION → www.prijezdovyformular.cz

Accompanying adults fill out the form for children younger than 18.


2. PREPARE A CONFIRMATION FOR PASSPORT CONTROL OR CONTROL DURING YOUR STAY

Once you fill out and submit the form, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. You may either print out the confirmation or display it on your mobile. The confirmation e-mail will contain a QR code that will display an on-line version of the confirmation. You will be asked to show this confirmation when passing through the passport control. Do keep the confirmation on you while in the Czech Republic – you may be asked to show it in case of control.  


3. GET TESTED (ANTIGEN OR PCR) BEFORE ARRIVAL TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC

You must get tested before you travel. The antigen test must be done at most 24 hours before the travel. The PCR test must be done at most 72 hours before the travel. The test may be done only in an accredited lab and the lab must equip you with the test result. You will be asked to show the negative test result when passing through the passport control. Do keep the confirmation on you while in the Czech Republic – you may be asked to show it in case of control.  



Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland + Balearic Islands, Canary Islands

4. GET TESTED (PCR) WITHIN 5 DAYS AFTER ARRIVAL

You must get retested within 5 days after arrival to the Czech Republic. This must be a PCR test. Once you receive the test result, you must e-mail it to the hygienic station which you have indicated in the arrival/passenger locator form based on your place of stay in the Czech Republic.


5. SELF-QUARANTINE

You must stay in quarantine / isolation until you report the negative test result to the hygienic station or until quarantine can end. You may start fulfilling your purpose of travel only afterwards.





All other countries not stated above

4. GET TESTED (PCR) NOT SOONER THAN 5 DAYS AFTER ARRIVAL

You must get retested 5 days after arrival to the Czech Republic. It must be a PCR test. Once you receive the test result, you must e-mail it to the hygienic station which you have indicated in the arrival/passenger locator form based on your place of stay in the Czech Republic.


5. SELF-QUARANTINE

You must stay in quarantine / isolation until you report the negative test result to the hygienic station or until quarantine can end. You may start fulfilling your purpose of travel only afterwards.



EXCEPTION – The above does not apply to you if you are one of the following:

  • international transportation worker

  • EU[1] citizen (incl. Czech citizen) OR holder of long-term or permanent residence permit in the EU (incl. in CZE) AND transiting through CZE for no longer than 12 hours

  • staff of diplomatic missions in CZE, if the stay in CZE will not exceed 72 hours

  • diplomatic passport holder travelling to CZE for official purposes, if the stay in CZE will not exceed 72 hours

  • official of international organization registered with the MFA, if the stay in CZE will not exceed 72 hours

  • child younger than five

  • cross-border worker, pupil or student (the so-called “pendler”) travelling back and forth on weekly basis

  • parent / guardian travelling from Austria, Germany, Poland or Slovakia to visit / take care for a child

  • police officer carrying out an escort or accompanying an aircraft

  • EU citizen (incl. Czech citizen) OR holder of long-term visa issued by CZE OR holder of a long-term, temporary or permanent residence permit in CZE WHO presents a confirmation (in Czech or English) issued by a medical doctor based in CZE or elsewhere in the EU stating that you do not currently show COVID-19 symptoms + you have already contracted COVID-19 in the past + you have self-quarantined after being positively tested for COVID-19 + you have been positively tested for COVID-19 no longer than 90 days ago

 

HOW DO I FIND A TEST SITE?

There is a test site at the Václav Havel International Airport in Prague.


Refer to the LIST OF TEST SITES (https://koronavirus.mzdr.cz/seznam-odberovych-center/). (Note: The list is available in Czech only. Ask your inviting party to help you find the nearest test site.)


Plan ahead and schedule your test appointment before you travel!
